Domevora dome engineering: structure, foundation and climate

Dome Engineering, Climate & Project Documents

What a polycarbonate dome can and cannot guarantee — stated as engineering conditions, not marketing claims. Model data, material data, site responsibilities and the documents available for permit review, all in one place.

The design principle

A dome is a shell, not a magic box.

Domevora does not treat wind, snow or fire as a single universal product rating. For commercial projects, the required design wind speed, snow load, anchoring and foundation conditions are reviewed against the selected model and site. Domevora provides product dimensions and available technical data; the final foundation and local code compliance must be confirmed by the project’s local engineer.

Material properties (polycarbonate sheet) and system performance (the installed dome) are different things. The site always sits between them.

Engineering topics

Start with the question your project is asking.

Wind & snow

How wind and snow are reviewed for a dome project, what data to send, and what the supplier should provide. → Wind & snow engineering

Foundation & anchoring

A flat, level, load-appropriate base is the first engineering decision. Base dimensions are provided; local professionals design and price the platform for the soil and site.

Fire & material data

Request the applicable fire-performance documents for the supplied panel and their test scope. Material fire data is separate from the fire requirements for an occupied building; the local design team confirms the installed configuration and intended use.

Climate & thermal comfort

Solar gain, condensation and winter operation depend on climate, configuration, occupancy and operating hours. The solution is a system, not a single part.

Project document pack

What documents are available for permit review, what is provided after order, and what is completed locally. → Project documents

Installation & maintenance

Modular assembly guidance, per-model data, and the maintenance schedule that keeps the 7-year polycarbonate material warranty valid. → Installation & shipping

Published performance

What the numbers mean, precisely.

Claim Level Condition / standard
About 91% light transmission Material (solid PC) Supplier-sheet reference; request applicable test information for the supplied panel
Impact information for the supplied panel grade and thickness Material (solid PC) Request the applicable report and its sample, method and conditions
Service range −40 °C to 120 °C Material (solid PC) Continuous material service range
Fire performance of the supplied panel Material (solid PC) Applicable report, tested grade and thickness; local building requirements reviewed separately
Selected model, anchoring and site require engineering review Shell system Model-, anchoring- and site-dependent; reviewed per project
7-year polycarbonate material warranty Product Request written coverage conditions, exclusions and claim procedure for the supplied polycarbonate material
Service-life planning Product Depends on material, exposure, cleaning, inspection and replacement provision; separate from warranty

Material data describes the polycarbonate sheet. Installed performance depends on model, anchoring, foundation, configuration and site conditions.

Site responsibility

What the project team confirms locally.

  • Site survey, soil and ground conditions
  • Foundation and deck design and construction
  • Planning, building, fire, electrical and hospitality approvals
  • Utility connections and interior fit-out
  • Local structural review of the installed configuration

Send the site, design wind speed or snow load if known, and any local code requirements. We review the selected model against them before quotation.

Next decision

Send the site conditions with your enquiry.

We will confirm which model, configuration and documents fit your project — and what stays with the local engineer.
