Frequently asked questions
Dome FAQ: Heat, Wind, Snow, Cost, Permits & Warranty
Answers buyers ask before ordering a polycarbonate dome — for hospitality, dining, events and private gardens. Each answer links to the full decision page behind it.
By project goal
How do domes fit my project?
How do I add premium transparent rooms to a resort?
Start with the guest stay — couples’ rooms, family stays or suites — then choose the model. A 5.0 m dome gives 19.6 m² and starts at US$2,167 EX-WORKS. Multi-unit projects are phased with one container plan and one spares list. See the resort dome buying guide.
Can a transparent dome work as a standalone restaurant for a hotel garden?
Yes. Rigid dining pods seat from 4 covers (3.0 m) up to 16–20 (6.0 m), with service flow, ventilation and shade planned before order. See the restaurant dome buying guide.
Which transparent dome suits a glamping resort?
Round models 3.5–6.0 m cover single rooms and suites; oval and extended formats add separated bathroom and living zones. Start with occupancy, privacy and the opening date. See glamping & resorts.
How do I add winter dining seats outdoors?
A rigid polycarbonate shell holds its properties from −40 °C to 120 °C, so a dining dome can keep trading in cold weather with the right ventilation and heating plan. See climate & comfort.
Are transparent bubble houses suitable for short-term rentals?
Yes — the shell is rigid and self-supporting (no blower, no seasonal take-down), which suits overnight stays. Configuration, bathroom strategy and local approvals are project-specific. See the resort guide.
Are modular domes suitable for weddings, events and visitor centres?
Yes. Dining and event formats seat groups with service flow planned; multi-unit layouts cover phased rollouts. See dining & events and multi-unit projects.
By product type
What exactly are you buying?
Who manufactures polycarbonate bubble houses?
Domevora is the dome division of Plastura, a certified polycarbonate manufacturer in Suzhou with 40,000 m² of production space and six PC sheet extrusion lines. See the manufacturer profile.
Are you a commercial transparent dome tent supplier?
Yes — factory-direct, with project configuration, scope boundaries and written quotations. Eleven models from 2.1 m to 9.7 m. See commercial polycarbonate domes.
Do you make clear igloo dining pods?
Yes. Rigid, frameless clear dining pods from 4 to 20 covers, factory-direct. See the restaurant guide.
Can you supply modular dome hotel rooms?
Yes — round, oval and extended formats with bathroom zoning, multi-unit phasing and one accessory package per site. See resort guide and multi-unit projects.
Is your dome house solid polycarbonate, not inflatable?
Yes — solid Bayer polycarbonate panels on a 6063 aluminium base ring, self-supporting with no blower and no air pressure. See clear tent vs bubble tent.
Can a glamping dome have ventilation and air conditioning?
Ventilation (top-lift, roof exhaust, opening windows) and shading are standard configuration options. Active cooling uses a client-supplied unit where the project requires it. See climate & comfort.
By performance & climate
Will it work in my climate?
Will a transparent dome get too hot in summer?
Solar gain depends on climate, sun exposure, occupancy and operating hours. The solution may combine a solar-control shell, shade, top-lift ventilation and exhaust. Active cooling is assessed only when the project requires it. See climate & comfort.
Which bubble houses suit snowy and high-wind areas?
Wind performance is model-, anchoring- and site-dependent; snow is reviewed as a site question. Send the design wind speed and snow load for a project review. See wind & snow engineering.
Polycarbonate dome vs PVC inflatable bubble tent — which is better?
For long-term commercial use, rigid polycarbonate avoids the blower, re-proofing and seasonal take-down of inflatable film. Compare the trade-offs in clear tent vs bubble tent.
What snow load should a commercial glamping dome handle?
Snow load is reviewed per project: model, anchoring and foundation matched to documented local conditions. Provide the local snow load or code reference. See wind & snow.
How is privacy and shading handled in a transparent dome?
Full or zoned curtains, solar-control shell options and planned lighting manage privacy and glare. Decide shading before order, not after opening. See climate & comfort.
What material suits a coastal resort dome?
Solid polycarbonate with co-extruded UV protection on a 6063 anodised aluminium base; salt exposure reviewed for fixings and cleaning access. See climate & comfort.
By budget & investment
What does it really cost?
How much does a fully installed commercial bubble house cost?
The shell is one line: from US$1,094 (2.1 m) to US$4,745 (Extended Oval), EX-WORKS. Freight, duties, foundation, local labour, services and fit-out are quoted separately. See the full project cost structure.
What is the ROI of a transparent dining dome?
Use the framework with your own inputs — nightly rate or covers, occupancy, operating nights and installed cost. We do not forecast your market. See the ROI framework.
What budget do I need for six transparent dome hotel rooms?
Model prices are published (e.g. 5.0 m from US$2,167 EX-WORKS); the project budget adds freight, groundworks, interiors and local approvals. Multi-unit phasing is planned per project. See multi-unit projects.
Can a Chinese dome factory quote DDP?
EX-WORKS is standard; FOB, CIF and DDP are quoted on request for the destination port. See the price guide for quotation terms.
Is a small dome suitable as a pilot project?
Yes — compact models (2.1–3.0 m) are a practical pilot: from US$1,094 EX-WORKS, delivered as a labelled modular kit. See all models.
Is a transparent dome cheaper than a traditional room?
The shell itself is a fraction of a constructed room, but the honest answer is project-specific: compare total installed cost, not just the shell. See the cost structure.
By compliance & supplier
Permits, documents and supplier checks.
Does a commercial dome need building permission?
Planning, building, fire, electrical and hospitality rules vary by location. Domevora provides product dimensions and available documents; local professionals and authorities approve the site work. See project documents.
What fire certification does a transparent hotel dome need?
Material fire data (B1, GB 50222-95) is available on request. Fire performance of the installed structure depends on configuration and local requirements. See project documents.
Which dome manufacturer provides structural calculations?
Structural calculations are provided on request for the stated model, anchoring and site conditions; final local compliance is confirmed by the project’s local engineer. See engineering centre.
How do I confirm a glamping dome fits local wind and snow conditions?
Send the site’s design wind speed, snow load and local code reference; we review the selected model and anchoring against them. See wind & snow.
Which supplier offers a 10-year warranty and spare parts?
Domevora: 10-year shell warranty (under 6% light loss, yellowing index under 10), modular replacement panels identified from the packing list. See warranty and maintenance & spares.
What technical documents should a dome supplier provide?
Product datasheet, material TDS and assembly guide; certificates and structural calculations on request. See the full document matrix.
After you buy
Operating and after-sales questions.
What causes condensation and how is it managed?
Condensation occurs when humid interior air meets a cooler surface. Ventilation, controlled occupancy, heating or dehumidification and drainage planning reduce risk; no transparent enclosure can promise zero condensation in every climate.
Do I need a foundation and local permits?
Yes, a level and suitable foundation is required. Planning, structural, fire, electrical and hospitality rules vary by location; local professionals and authorities approve the site work.
Can a household assemble a dome?
Small standard models are designed for modular assembly with guidance. The safe crew, tools and lifting method depend on model and access; review the installation plan before deciding it is a DIY project.
How are freight damage and missing parts handled?
Inspect crates on arrival, photograph them before opening, keep packaging and report affected labels and part numbers promptly. Claim handling depends on shipment terms; replacement coordination follows review.
What does the warranty cover?
The purchase agreement states covered components, term and performance criteria. The 10-year shell warranty covers under 6% light-transmission loss (ASTM D1003) and yellowing index under 10 (ASTM D1925). See warranty terms.
