Stargazing domes & bubble rooms
A stargazing dome you can still use in February.
A stargazing dome is a clear, rigid room you sit or sleep in under the open sky. Domevora domes are solid polycarbonate shells on an aluminium base ring, from US$1,094 EX-WORKS for the Round 2.1 m; most homes start between the Round 3.0 m and the 3.5 m High. Choose the viewing position, control nearby lighting and plan ventilation so the transparent roof can serve its purpose after dark.
Scene effect visualization — final configuration depends on site conditions.
Decide what the night is for.
Stargazing, a guest room with a view, dinner under the sky, or somewhere the children sleep out in summer — the use decides the size, the lighting and how much shading you need. For daytime garden uses such as plants or somewhere to read, start with garden domes instead; for a desk, see the garden office pod guide.
Clear domes in gardens and on lawns.

Begin with the compact range.
- 2.1–3 m models are the practical home starting range
- Compare furniture footprint before selecting a shell
- Larger formats remain available when the site and use require them
- All Domevora sizes can be specified for commercial use

Fully configured means the polycarbonate shell and roof, aluminium door and window, base profile, LED light strip and curtains. Shell-only pricing is lower and shown with each model on the product page. Prices are indicative, quoted EX-WORKS Suzhou and updated 26 July 2026; they move with the exchange rate. Sea freight, duties, foundation and local installation are quoted separately — send us your destination port and we will include a landed estimate with your quotation.
The room you end up using most.
A stargazing dome is not a summer house. It is the one room where the weather becomes something you watch instead of something that cancels your evening.
- Rain stops being a reason to go inside. It becomes the reason to go out — you hear it on the shell and see nothing but sky.
- For winter viewing, plan heating, condensation control and a safe route between the dome and the house.
- The stars are the ceiling. No roof, no beams, no light spill from the house behind you.
- It becomes the children’s favourite place in the house, which is not in the house.
- Acoustic comfort depends on the complete assembly, doors, seals and ventilation openings. Request configuration-specific data where noise isolation matters.
No installer arrives with it. That is the point.
Domevora ships EX-WORKS to buyers all over the world, so we do not send a crew. The shell is panelled precisely so that you do not need one.
- The shell arrives as labelled panels with the roof cap, aluminium door and window, base profile and a complete fixing kit.
- Ordinary hand tools, no crane, no welding, no wet trades. Compact home models are within reach of a prepared household; the crew size for your model is stated in the written quotation.
- Step-by-step installation guidance is provided to every buyer, and we answer questions during the build rather than after it.
- Every part is identified on the packing list, so a damaged or missing item is ordered by number, not by description.
You are responsible for a level base or foundation, local permission where it is required, and any electrical work. We will tell you what the model needs before you order — ask, and it goes in the written quotation.
Check the garden before the cart.
- Usable level surface and foundation approach
- Door direction and path from the house
- Furniture, planting and view lines
- Power, drainage and neighbour privacy
Passive comfort is usually the sensible first step.
Use opening area, active top ventilation and shade before considering cooling equipment. Home buyers should also plan when the space will be occupied and how direct sun reaches it.
Know what DIY support does and does not cover.
- Confirm foundation and local permission before ordering
- Check access for delivery and panel handling
- Installation guidance does not replace local building expertise
- The quotation defines included parts, freight and optional accessories
See the scale before deciding.
Use verified product dimensions and labelled reference installations. Furniture mockups and concept scenes are planning aids, not proof of a completed customer project.
A bubble room, without the blower.
A Domevora stargazing dome holds its shape without a blower. Its solid-polycarbonate shell lets you sleep under the stars in an enclosed room. Plan the bed position, nearby lighting, privacy curtains and ventilation together: reflections and condensation can affect the view.
- Sleeping under it. Our factory layout guide puts one 2 m round bed or a 1.35 × 2 m bed in the Round 3.5 m High. For a 1.8 × 2 m bed, step up to the Round 4.0 m High (12.6 m²). The Round 3.0 m is laid out for seating rather than sleeping.
- Where to put it. Point the door away from house lights and street lamps — light spill, not cloud, is what usually ruins a sky dome.
- Curtains matter more after dark. Interior light makes any transparent room visible from outside; zoned curtains close the lower half and leave the crown open.
- Winter is the season. The clearest skies come with the coldest nights, which is exactly when a fabric star dome stops being usable.
It arrives as a labelled kit — the eight assembly steps are on installation and shipping.
Stargazing dome questions, answered plainly.
What is a stargazing dome?
A stargazing dome is a transparent rigid shell you sleep or sit inside with an uninterrupted view of the sky. A Domevora clear dome is solid Bayer polycarbonate on an aluminium base ring, transmitting about 91% of visible light (ASTM D1003). So the sky stays the brightest thing in the room. Shops list the same thing as a star dome, an outdoor dome, an outdoor clear dome or a transparent plastic dome; here the plastic is solid polycarbonate sheet, not film.
Is this the same as a clear dome tent or a glass igloo?
Sellers use both names. “Clear dome tent” usually means PVC film on a frame or an inflatable: light and low-cost, with weather limits set by its supplier. A glass igloo, like those at Nordic aurora resorts, uses glazed panels in a metal frame. A Domevora dome sits between them: rigid like glass, about half the weight of glass of the same thickness, and bolted to an aluminium base ring with no frame across the view.
Can you actually see stars through a clear dome, or does it distort them?
You can see them. The shell is solid polycarbonate sheet, not film, so it does not ripple or sag in the wind; the seams between panels show as thin lines in the view. What ruins stargazing is light spill, not the material — point the door away from house lights and street lamps and close the lower curtains.
Is a stargazing dome usable in winter?
Winter use needs a site-specific plan. Confirm local wind and snow requirements, heating, ventilation and condensation control before booking the dome for overnight stays or opening it to guests.
How is this different from an inflatable bubble tent?
An inflatable stops being a room the moment the blower stops. A clear dome is a solid shell with nothing to inflate, no running fan and no annual film replacement. It also carries a 7-year polycarbonate material warranty.
What size stargazing dome do I need?
For seating — a table and up to six chairs — 7.1 m2 (Round 3.0 m) is the usual starting point. For sleeping, the Round 3.5 m High (9.6 m2) takes a 2 m round bed or a 1.35 × 2 m bed; a 1.8 × 2 m bed needs the Round 4.0 m High (12.6 m2). Prices start at US$1,094 EX-WORKS.
