Restaurant Christmas Decorations: Ideas That Fill Tables, Not Just Walls

The restaurant Christmas decorations that pay back are the ones guests book for: a window people stop at, a ceiling they photograph, and a table they cannot get anywhere else. Decorate the entrance, the ceiling and the table line inside; then, if you have a terrace, turn it into private dining igloos that stay bookable all winter. A Domevora dining dome seats 4–6 (Round 3.0 m, from US$1,445) or 8–10 (Round 4.0 m, from US$1,341 shell only) and ships worldwide from Suzhou, EX-WORKS.

Short answer

Decorate where guests look, then where they sit.

Most restaurant Christmas decor goes on walls and shelves, where nobody looks for long. Put the effort where attention already is: the street window and entrance, the ceiling over the busiest tables, and the table itself. Keep centrepieces low so guests can see each other, and keep every decoration clear of exits, heaters and kitchen doors.

The idea that changes revenue, not just atmosphere, is outside. A terrace that sits empty from December to March can become a row of private igloo tables, each one bookable on its own, decorated once and used every night of the season.

Inside the restaurant

Christmas decoration ideas for a restaurant, by where they go.

Window and entrance

This is the decoration people see before they decide to come in. One strong window scene beats tinsel on every surface: a lit garland around the door, a small tree that is visible from the street, and a clear menu for holiday bookings by the entrance.

Ceiling

Overhead greenery, paper stars or strings of warm-white lights change the whole room without taking table space. Hang them over the busiest tables, where guests take photos, and fix them to something that is rated for the weight.

Tables

Low centrepieces, a sprig of greenery on the napkin, and candles in enclosed holders. Inside restaurant Christmas decorations work best when guests can still see across the table and staff can still clear it quickly.

Bar and counter

The bar is where guests wait and where they photograph their drinks. A garland along the back bar and a seasonal drinks card do more than decorations spread thinly across the room.

Lighting

Switch the main lights to a warmer, dimmer setting in the evening and let the decorations carry the room. Use warm-white rather than cold-white strings, and keep one lighting level for service areas so staff can work safely.

Safety and fire rules

Real greenery dries out, and open flames near fabric are a risk. Check what your local fire rules allow for live trees, candles and decorations near exits, and use flame-retardant materials where they are required.

Outside the restaurant

The Christmas decoration guests book: a private igloo table.

A clear dining dome turns one terrace table into a private room with the sky overhead. Dressed with lights and greenery, each igloo becomes the table people ask for by name, and it can be sold as a booking fee, a minimum spend or a set menu. Because the shell is rigid polycarbonate rather than inflated film, it stays up through the season instead of coming down after the holidays.

Before you order for the holidays

What to settle first.

Timing

Domes are made to order and shipped from Suzhou. Lead time and freight are confirmed in the written quotation, so ask before you promise December bookings. If the dates do not work for this Christmas, the same igloos still serve the rest of the winter and next season.

Heat

A clear shell loses heat quickly on a cold night. Size an electric heater from the shell area and the temperature difference, and avoid flueless gas heaters inside. Our winter heating guide shows the calculation.

Decorating the dome

Lights and garlands hung inside should not touch the heater or block the door. Curtains are included in the configured price and can be drawn on the lower panels for privacy while the roof stays open to the sky.

Base and permission

Each dome needs a level base and anchoring. A structure on a public terrace may need approval from the city or landlord, so check before the season. Base and anchoring.

Booking and service

Sell each igloo as a table with a time slot, and plan the walking route for servers in the cold. Our restaurant dome buying guide covers layout, covers and service flow.

Questions restaurant owners ask us

What are good Christmas decoration ideas for a restaurant?

Focus on the street window and entrance, the ceiling over the busiest tables, low table centrepieces and the bar. Use warm-white lighting, keep decorations clear of exits and heaters, and check local fire rules for live trees and candles. If you have a terrace, private igloo tables add bookable seats as well as atmosphere.

How much does a restaurant dining igloo cost?

A Domevora dining dome costs from US$1,300 (Round 2.5 m, 2–4 guests) and US$1,445 (Round 3.0 m, 4–6 guests) fully configured, and from US$1,341 shell only for the Round 4.0 m Low (8–10 guests), EX-WORKS Suzhou. Freight, duties, the base, heating and installation are extra.

Can I get dining igloos in time for Christmas?

It depends on the date you order and on shipping to your country. Lead time and freight are confirmed in the written quotation, so ask now. If December is too close, the domes still serve the rest of the winter, and they do not need taking down at the end of the season.

Do dining igloos stay up after the holidays?

Yes. The shell is rigid polycarbonate on an aluminium base ring and holds its properties down to −40 °C, so it can stay in place through the winter and into spring. In warm, sunny weather plan shade and ventilation.

How do I keep a dining igloo warm?

Use electric heating sized to the shell area and the temperature difference, keep air moving to limit condensation, and close the door between courses. The winter heating guide has the sizing method.
